  • Patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease have preferable cardiac profile prior to transplantation and better survival and significant adverse cardiovascular event-free survival rates vs. patients with other kidney diseases.
  • In a retrospective study, patients with ADPKD demonstrated the most favorable survival following transplantation, with a median of 18.7 years vs. 12 years for the diabetic nephropathy group.
  • Patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease have demonstrated a reduction in valvular function and a rise in the sinus of Valsalva diameter after transplantation.
  • Analysis of the study results revealed that at the time of transplantation, patients with ADPKD had lower rates of left ventricular hypertrophy, mitral regurgitation, and tricuspid regurgitations than those with diabetic nephropathy and patients without diabetes and without non-autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
  • Besides, patients with ADPKD also have reduced diastolic and systolic dysfunction during transplantation.
