Over 5600 Cases of TB have been registered in Nagpur In 2022

In 2022, the city of Nagpur recorded over 5652 new TB cases under the ongoing screening camp conducted by civic and health officials. Out of these 5000+ cases, over 2500 were women, while 3114 were men. The study of the region’s TB profile was conducted by the pulmonary medicine department of Government Medical College and Hospital.

 

In the study, they observed a 2:1 male-to-female TB patient ratio. The women′s TB patient ratio in the city was reported to be around 44% in the age group of 20 to 49 years.

 

The study also showed that 58% of the patients suffered from multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis, while the other hands, 50% of the total deaths were caused by drug-sensitive tuberculosis. The study also showed that the number of women affected by tuberculosis was 28% from 2008 to 2012.
