Mr. Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, directed officials to create proposals for the setting up of a medical recruitment board to fill up vacancies in public healthcare institutions in the state. On Friday, the chief minister reviewed the health sector projects with senior officials at his camp office and stated that no hospital should be left with vacancies as it will hamper public healthcare.

He further added that centralized recruitment through a medical board will ensure that no hospital faces a shortage of staff in any cadre. Other instructions for the proposal included a periodic audit of staff available in all hospitals and manpower audits every month with measures to fill the vacancies. He ordered the setting up of a dedicated medical recruitment board to handle the issue.

Mr. Reddy further directed officials to enhance diet charges for patients in government hospitals by adding that the diet charges should be increased to Rs. 100 per day on par with the charges being paid under the YSR Arogyasri scheme.

Also, while instructing the officials to complete the negotiations with Arogyasri network hospitals to bring new procedures into the scheme, the CM asked for the new procedures to be added by October 15, which would take the total procedures to be handled under Arogyasri to 3,254 from the existing 2,446.
