On Tuesday, apart from government hospitals, private doctors also witnessed a rush of patients suffering from pollution-related ailments. Dr. Amit Singla, a child specialist, stated that the number of children visiting his hospital has increased due to pollution caused by the Diwali celebration. He noted that parents complained of their children suffering from coughs, colds, fevers, itching in the eyes, allergies, and skin problems due to pollution from the bursting of crackers.

Several experts stated that the affected children would have to take rest for at least five to seven days for a complete recovery. They also advised the parents to increase their children’s water intake.

On the other hand, older people were also adversely affected by the pollution caused by crackers. Dr. Kirpal Singh, a chest specialist, and the Sangrur District Health Officer advised that recently, the number of people suffering from asthma has increased; hence, everyone should be cautious of rising pollution levels.
