On Saturday, a meeting for medical superintendents was held in AIIMS to form a policy for referral mechanisms between government hospitals in Delhi for stable patients. The official circular issued by the AIIMS notes that the new referral policy will reduce the crowd in the emergency department.

The circular noted that there is no formal referral mechanism between the government hospitals in Delhi for stable patients, and patients face the inconvenience of having to move from one hospital to another in search of beds. Hence, to ensure patient safety and well-being, it is imperative to create a system of referral for stable patients between government hospitals in Delhi.

At the meeting, it was decided that an oversight monitoring committee and a working committee will be constituted from January 1, 2023, to implement paperless work in all hospital modules and reduce the crowds.

As per the circular, the OPD appointments in the hospital will be doctor-based and the system will have arrangements for redistribution in the case of non-availability, to enable a reduction in the crowd. Also, all modules of e-Hospital, including integrated store and pharmacy, will be implemented.
