Andhra Pradesh: Amid the increasing number of people struggling with psychological disorders related to stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues, the state government has decided to include clinical health procedures related to mental health under YSR Aarogyasri.

In the State Mental Authority (SMA) meeting held this week, Dr. MT Krishna Babu, principal secretary (health), stressed the importance of providing top-class treatment for mental health issues. He stated that the government should give equal importance to both the physical and mental health of the public. He added that additional studies and surveys should be conducted to identify patients with mental disorders.

Dr. Babu asked the Aarogyasri authorities to take measures to provide cashless treatment for psychological and psychiatric illnesses at all corporate hospitals under the Aarogyasri scheme. Similarly, he charged the SMA with creating a dedicated website to assist and guide patients with psychological issues in receiving quality treatment.
