According to all significant data, the Covid-19 epidemic in India appears to be at its lowest point since the very beginning of the outbreak.

The number of new cases in India dropped to 5,420 last week (November 7–13), the lowest number since April 6–12, 2020, two weeks after the nation′s first lockdown. According to the Covid database, the daily average of new cases fell below 1,000 for the first time since that week in 2020.

India had the fewest weekly COVID deaths in more than two and a half years as Covid numbers have declined. The cumulative weekly toll fell to 23 for the first time since the final week of March 2020. There were 54 reported fatalities in the previous week.

The official tally of active Covid cases in the nation has gone below 10,000, again for the first time since April 2020, which is another sign that the pandemic may be finally dying down and moving into the endemic stage in India. On Monday, there were 9,468 active cases, down from 12,307 the day before, according to the Union Health Ministry website. The seven-day test positivity rate (TPR) has fallen to 0.59%, the lowest level seen since the pandemic′s early stages.

The Indian government or the WHO has not declared the pandemic over. The novel coronavirus has been evolving into new subvariants regularly. The Omicron XBB subvariant is supposedly growing in India, albeit the increase has yet to be seen in the figures.

But, as expected in the late stages of any pandemic, Covid has become less life-threatening.
