According to a study based on "real world" data from India, a drug used to treat high blood pressure was found to be ineffective in treating even mild COVID-19 cases. In the study, the researchers from the London School of Hygiene, the University of Oxford, and TPP House cited different studies and highlighted the ineffectiveness of hypertension drugs in COVID treatment.

In the first study published in the British Medical Journal, angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) or other drugs used to treat high blood pressure and heart disease, including telmisartan, were used. The findings of the study showed that after administering the medication for 14 days, no meaningful difference was observed between the treatment and control groups.

Another study cited by them was an observational trial conducted in England. The study compared the efficacy of the antibody treatment sotrovimab with the antiviral drug Molnupiravir. The findings of the study showed that those who received sotrovimab were at a substantially lower (46%) risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes than those receiving molnupiravir within 28 days of treatment.
