For psoriatic arthritis patients with psoriasis, optimal improvement in patients’ health-related quality of life as measured by select domains of patient-required outcomes are dependent on successful treatment of both joint and skin symptoms.

Continuing investigations into the pathogenesis of psoriatic arthritis have demonstrated new treatment options, targeting molecules at the cellular level. Over the last few years, additional medicines have been approved, allowing the health care practitioners wider options in treating patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Additionally, a multidisciplinary approach by rheumatologists and dermatologists in assessing and managing patients has helped optimize care of these patients by providing timely assessment and well-timed treatment at the same visit.
