Delhi reports 272 dengue cases last week, taking total tally to 3,595

The most recent data from the civic authority on Monday stated that out of the 272 dengue cases registered in Delhi last week, 167 were recorded in areas under the control of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. MCD has not yet reported any death this year, although 3,595 cases have now been reported.

 

Out of the total cases presently recorded, more than 1,400 cases were disclosed in November. There were 693 cases in September and 1,238 in October. No cases have been documented so far in December. The most recent report indicates that the city saw 23 dengue cases on January, 16 in February, 22 in March, 20 in April, 30 on May, 32 in June, 26 in July, and 75 in August.

 

The report also stated that this year, the city has also seen 44 instances of chikungunya and 236 cases of malaria.

 

It further mentioned that in 2017, the city recorded 4,681 occurrences between January 1 and December 2. The national capital saw a severe dengue outbreak in 2015, with 10,600 cases reported in just one month of October, and most recently, 23 people lost their lives to the virus in 2021.

 

The report stated that instances of such vector-borne illnesses are typically documented between July and November, occasionally lasting until mid-December. Dengue symptoms include high temperature, headache, rash, and joint and muscular discomfort. 

 

Until November 18, mosquito larvae breeding was found in 1,69,145 homes. It further claimed that 45,800 prosecutions had been started and that the authorities had given 1,19,554 legal notices for mosquitogenic conditions to control the mosquito′s breeding and spread.
