The district administrations will survey Vidarbha's 11 districts to seek measles cases in remote, rural, and tribal areas. On December 9, Gondia became the first district to begin the survey. Then, from December 15 to December 25, a special supplementary dose vaccination push will be held.

There have been confirmed or suspected measles cases in several districts. There are seven confirmed cases of measles in Buldhana, 58 suspect cases in Akola, and four confirmed cases in Amravati.

Collector Nayna Gunde of the Gondia district reported that the area is not currently experiencing a measles virus outbreak. Special vaccinations were being administered as instructed by the Public Health Department, and a list of the children will be compiled.

Dr. Amrish Mohbe, the district civil surgeon for Gondia stated that a shortage of vitamin A could cause increased risk of getting measles, eye disorders, diarrhoea, pneumonia, and encephalitis and this risk is reduced if a patient with measles receives the recommended dosage of vitamin A for two days in a row.

Hence, Asha members and health professionals will visit houses to look for children who have not received the measles-rubella vaccine and to administer Vitamin-A doses to the vulnerable.

A special immunization campaign in Bhandara will be conducted in two stages. Phase I will be conducted between December 15 and 25, whereas phase II will be between January 15 and 24 (2023). During the following month, hotspots will be identified and action will be done.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has already set up a reporting unit in Nagpur city, where doctors must report any suspected measles cases. Patients started to recover, even before their confirmation report could be received. The NMC intends to run a vaccination drive.

Parents were specifically encouraged to continue vaccinating their children against measles-rubella (MR) as part of the general immunization regimen and to administer the second dose of the MR vaccine early.
