Dr. Abhay Karandikar, Director of IIT Kanpur, stated that they have developed an artificial heart that will be of great help to people with acute cardiac problems. He stated that with an artificial heart, heart transplants will be easy and can be safely implanted in serious patients.

He stated that the artificial heart was developed by researchers from IIT Kanpur and cardiologists from across the country. The trial on animals will start in February or March 2023. 

Dr. Karandikar stated that heart diseases are increasing rapidly, and a large number of patients are being advised about heart transplants.

He credited the researchers and stated that the artificial heart is being developed to reduce the suffering of patients. He added that, after the success of the trial on animals, heart transplantation in humans will begin within two years.
