On Thursday, the National Medical Commission issued guidelines about the validity of compulsory rotatory medical internships (CRMIs). In November 2022, several medical students protested against the NMC′s decision on CRMIs, claiming that it would force students who got their UG course completion certificates on or before June 30, 2022, to complete two years of internship as opposed to the customary one.

According to the official notice, all the foreign medical graduates who have done or started their compulsory rotatory medical internships in approved medical colleges, institutes, or hospitals on or before October 21, 2022, will be considered valid.

The commission also added that the internships started in the non-technical hospitals after October 21, 2022, will be invalid. The commission stated that the decision was taken after they received requests and representations.
