Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Amidst the bird flu cases being reported in the state, Kerala Health Minister Dr. Veena George stated that the cases were no cause for concern but that precautions needed to be taken to prevent transmission of the infection to humans on Sunday.

According to a government release, all districts have been alerted, and everyone should follow directions issued by the Health Department. The release stated that the Health Department will be monitoring for symptoms, such as fever and others, in the affected areas.

According to the press release, severe upper back discomfort, fever, coughing, shortness of breath, a cold, and blood in the sputum are all symptoms of the infection in people. It further mentioned that avian influenza, commonly known as "bird flu," is an infectious viral illness that affects birds but is rarely spread to people.

However, due to a viral mutation, it can occasionally spread infection. As a result, anyone who comes into contact with diseased or healthy birds should take precautions, including using gloves and face masks and often washing their hands.
