In Delhi-NCR, emergency departments at private and public hospitals are observing an increase in the number of patients suffering from heart attacks, brain strokes, and high blood pressure in the early morning hours. Dr. Suresh Kumar, the medical director at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, stated that since the cold waves started 12 days ago, they are getting about 10-15% more cases of heart attacks, brain strokes, and high blood pressure, especially during the early hours. He stated that the most affected age group is between 50 and 70 years old. He also stated that OPDs are overburdened with viral infections. He suggested that "people should frequently monitor their blood pressure and diabetes, avoid walking in the morning, and wear warm clothing."

Dr. Rahul Gupta, Director of Neurosurgery and Neuro-Intervention at Fortis Hospital in Noida, stated that the number of stroke patients has increased by 9% over the winter. He added that, particularly in metro areas, 25% or more of patients are under 45.

Additionally, he stated that excessive prescription of antiplatelet drops like Ecosprin by physicians or cardiologists to prevent ischemic stroke or heart attack has also increased the incidence of hemorrhagic stroke.
