Low serum sodium levels affect cognition in older adults

 According to a new study published February 8, 2018 in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, hyponatremia is linked with cognitive impairment as well as decline in cognitive function with advancing age. Men with serum sodium levels of 126-140 mmol/L were 30% more likely to have cognitive impairment at baseline and 37% more likely to experience cognitive decline over time.
