According to recently elected IMA Secretary Dr. S. Sivasailam, the Thoothukudi chapter of the IMA will focus on raising awareness regarding drug abuse and traffic accidents that are common among students.

He stated that the organization has decided to organize campaigns at schools and colleges regarding the lives lost as a result of traffic accidents and drug usage, which have been a major problem in the coastal city since gaining office.

As per several statistics, the crime rate for people between the ages of 14 and 17 has been rising consistently over the past few years. These programs for raising awareness could serve as an early intervention.
