According to experts, there has not been a new subvariant of the COVID-19 virus in India in over a month.

One of the individuals, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that the Indian Sars-CoV-2 Collaboration on Genomics, a network of laboratories tracking genomic variants of the Covid-19 virus, had not observed any "strange pattern" or "any novel variant or sub-variant."

The source revealed that XBB, a combination of the Omicron sub-variants BA2.75 and BA2, is still the dominant Covid variant, followed by earlier-dominant B2.75 and the other sub-variants, which are "insignificant."
