Experts in Sweden think that when it comes to preventing weight gain and the emergence of Type 2 diabetes, calorie-free caffeinated beverages should be a significant focus of research.

Mostly benefited were those who have a genetic tendency to metabolize caffeine far more slowly than others, leaving more of the stimulant in their blood. The stimulant stimulates metabolism, promotes fat burning, and decreases appetite. This enhanced the stimulants ability to burn fat while lowering their risk of Type 2 diabetes.

The relationship between caffeine and how a person′s body responds to genetic variations was examined by the researchers. Researchers concentrated on CYP1A2 and AHR, two common genetic variations that affect how quickly caffeine is metabolized in the body.

According to the findings, participants drank less coffee when they were genetically predisposed to process the stimulant slowly. Nonetheless, the same individuals have higher blood levels of the chemical than those who metabolise it quickly.

A correlation was observed between high blood levels of caffeine and lower weight, body fat, and risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, if a person belongs to the group whose genes dictate that they consume caffeine more slowly and has greater blood levels of caffeine.

Subsequent research found that weight loss accounted for 43% of caffeines influence on the risk of Type 2 diabetes.
