The Rajasthan Right to Health (RTH) Bill 2022, which was approved by the state assembly on Tuesday despite opposition from private doctors and hospitals, will grant residents of Rajasthan access to emergency care in private hospitals without requiring them to pay in advance, and if they are unable to pay the bill, the government will reimburse the hospitals.

According to state health secretary Dr. Prithvi, who only goes by his first name, Rajasthan is the first state to pass such a law. Adding that there have been complaints that some private hospitals do not treat patients under the state′s Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme, which necessitated the new law, state health minister Mr. Parsadi Lal Meena stated that the government is committed to providing healthcare facilities to the people of the state.

For the past few months, doctors from private healthcare facilities have been denouncing the measure. On Monday, doctors and owners of private hospitals from Rajasthan protested in Jaipur, calling for the repeal of the "draconian" Right to Health Law.

The bill was altered after the committee turned in its report. Rajendra Rathore, the deputy leader of the opposition, stated that all stakeholders should be considered when implementing the RTH bill. He suggested that RTH be applied to hospitals of a certain size, for example, a hospital with at least 50 beds.
