To plan the treatment options for the H3N2 cases, the district health department of Jamshedpur will meet on Tuesday with the administrators of the hospitals and nursing homes. The conference, which will be presided over by the district civil surgeon, Dr Jujhar Manjhi, will also cover the increasing incidence of corona cases. Dr. Majhi stated that several healthcare centres are not providing regular updates to the health department about the number of H3N2 cases.

The civil surgeon stated that the healthcare centres would be required to make sure that every suspected case is reported to the district Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) centre given that there have been four confirmed cases of H3N2 influenza and ten suspected cases that are currently being examined.

From March 18 to 25, more than 50 cases of influenza A virus of the H3N2 subtype have been tested in the district. A district health department official stated that nine additional active Covid cases were detected, bringing the total number of Covid cases reported since May 2020 to 71,469 cases.

The civil surgeon stated that the meeting will discuss the strategies to be followed by the hospital to evaluate the current status of the medical infrastructure set up to handle H3N2 cases. According to him, the state health agency has formalised the guidelines that hospitals must adhere to while diagnosing and treating COVID and H3N2 cases.
