On Tuesday, the World Health Organization revised its recommendations for the COVID-19 vaccination, advising high-risk groups to obtain an additional dose 12 months after their previous booster. The health organization identified elderly adults and younger people with other significant risk factors as high-risk populations.

The agency defined healthy children and adolescents as a ″low priority ″group and urged countries to consider factors like disease burden before recommending vaccination for this group. The recommendations come as various nations adopt various methods for their citizens.

Several high-income nations, like the United Kingdom and Canada, are already providing COVID-19 boosters to high-risk individuals this spring, six months after their last dosage. The WHO stated that this was an option for a subset of individuals who were particularly at risk, but its guidelines were meant to serve as a recommended global practice guide.

The organization claimed that its panel of experts had also concluded that "medium-risk" individuals no longer needed to take additional COVID booster doses after the initial round of two shots and a booster. (Source: https://health.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/industry/who-changes-covid-vaccine-recommendations/99073827 )
