The government has postponed the start date for the track-and-trace system for drug formulation exports to August 1 of this year. Both SSI- and non-SSI (Small Scale Industry) medications are covered by the ruling.

The directorate general of foreign trade (DGFT) announced in a public notice that the deadline for implementing the track and trace system for exports of drug formulations concerning maintaining the parent-child relationship in packaging levels and its uploading on the central portal has been extended for both SSI and non-SSI manufactured drugs.

In the past, the dates have occasionally been extended. To enable tracking and tracing of their products at the primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging stages, the maker or exporter of medication formulations must print the barcode according to the global standard. Drugs may be tracked and traced back to their sources thanks to barcodes, reducing the likelihood that genuine medications will be mistaken for fake, inferior, or subpar ones.
