On April 12, 2023, the foreign ministry of the South Asian nation announced that Ukraine had asked for additional medications and medical supplies from India. On the other hand, India claimed to have committed to giving Ukraine increased humanitarian aid.

According to the Indian Foreign Ministry, the request came during the three-day visit to India by Ukraine`s Deputy Foreign Minister, Ms. Emine Dzhaparova. The deputy foreign health minister met with the junior foreign minister, Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, and asked for aid. He proposed that rebuilding infrastructure in Ukraine could be an opportunity for Indian companies.

Furthermore, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) revealed that the Ukrainian President, Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has written a letter to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. The MEA stated that the next round of foreign office consultations between the two sides will be held in Kyiv on a mutually convenient date.

On Wednesday, the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine wrapped up her three-day visit to India. On this occasion, Ms. Lekhi took to her Twitter handle. She revealed that in September 2022, in a bilateral meeting with Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin, Mr. Modi stated that "today`s era is not one of war."

She tweeted that Ukraine was assured of enhanced humanitarian assistance. Meanwhile, Ms. Dzhaparova also tweeted her thanks to Ms. Lekhi after their meeting on April 11.
