There have been several unique coronavirus sub-variants throughout the three years of the ongoing pandemic that has wracked the globe, with Delta proving to be the most hazardous.

According to Dr. Chandrakant Lahariya, "The new infection has limited intensity, so the number of new cases reported each day or the positivity rate is not a good parameter." The rate of hospitalizations or mortality should now be the main focus. He added that the approach should be based on ECG—epidemiological, clinical, and genomic surveillance. He noted that to conclude, all three must be considered collectively, not just the total number of cases.

Dr. Giridhar R. Babu, head of life course epidemiology at the Public Health Foundation of India, stated that ongoing data monitoring and analysis can assist in deciding the next course of action. He added that to offer a stronger defense against COVID brought on by the Omicron variant, bivalent vaccinations include components of the original viral strain and the Omicron variant.

Dr. Lalit Kant, a former scientist with the ICMR, stated that further research can help establish the effectiveness of bivalent vaccines because the virus constantly mutates. Dr. Babu stressed that every choice about immunizations or dosage must be supported by research findings.

The statistics of people who have received more doses of the vaccine compared to those who havent should thus be carefully analyzed before any modifications in vaccine recommendations or distribution are made.
