On Thursday, Mr. Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy, stated that improved surveillance and faster response to zoonotic illnesses can help prevent global health catastrophes from upsetting the globe.

He noted that strengthening animal health and implementing a "One Health" approach can help prevent and control zoonotic diseases, which have a significant impact on animal welfare, economic productivity, and human health, during the ongoing G20 health talks.

The conference was hosted by the Asian Growth Bank and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to connect the growth of the health sector with the aims of the Paris Agreement. He stated that the regions of Latin America, Africa, and Asia are particularly susceptible owing to the prevalence of communicable illnesses and limited resources.

Mr. Rajesh Singh, Union Secretary in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy, spoke about Indias animal pandemic preparation effort, which monitors zoonotic illnesses. Meanwhile, Mr. Lav Agarwal, additional secretary in the Ministry of Health, advocated for concerted measures to reduce the consequences of climate change and to address the links between climate change and health holistically.
