Acne is a skin condition characterized by inflammation. The use of antibiotics or isotretinoin can harm the intestinal flora. Oral isotretinoin is frequently prescribed to patients with severe acne and has a high success rate due to its ability to reduce sebum production, inhibit comedo formation and modulate inflammation. However, it has a wide range of adverse effects and should only be prescribed by experienced practitioners. Isotretinoin can cause various side effects, including arthralgia, stiffness, tendonitis, photosensitivity, mucosal and skin dryness, altered liver function tests and serum lipid, anemia, leukopenia, pancreatitis, depression and alopecia.

Researchers are always searching for effective solutions to treat acne and produce positive outcomes. Research shows that using probiotics may reduce skin eruptions. The intestinal microbiota is crucial in the formation of acne lesions. It is also accountable for the proper immunity of the organism. The presence of acne could be related to the state of the digestive system and its microbiome. Research shows that using probiotics may reduce skin eruptions.

Overall, the rapidly developing markets of probiotic supplements and cosmetics hold much promise for improving the skin condition of individuals with acne. Further research must identify the most effective strains and formulations along with the optimal treatment duration and frequency.
