Euvichol-Plus, an oral cholera vaccine (OCV), was launched by TechInvention Lifecare India in collaboration with Eubiologics Co., South Korea. The pharma giants partnered to launch a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) Unidose pack of OCV in India.

The vaccine is not only simple and safe to use, but it also eliminates the problems associated with traditional glass vials in terms of breakage, storage, transportation, distribution, and waste management, as well as facilitating delivery in emergencies and humanitarian crises in campaign mode.

While cholera remains a major global public health problem, there has been an alarming upsurge of cases in vulnerable nations worldwide amidst the stoppage in the production of one of the only two cholera vaccines.

With an estimated incidence rate of 1.64 per 1,000 inhabitants, India ranks first among cholera-endemic nations. In India, an estimated 400 million people are in danger of cholera, with 6,751,888 cases and 20,256 (3%) fatalities reported every year. This is just the tip of the iceberg since cholera is still an under-recognized public health problem in India.
