Need of the Hour IVF Treatment at Government Hospitals

It is surprising that Maharashtra does not have a single government-run clinic that provides in vitro fertilization (IVF) therapy.

According to experts, starting IVF therapy in government facilities is critical to making IVF available to everyone. The studies report that 15 out of 100 couples have infertility due to various causes, such as increased stress, drinking, weight gain, late marriage, etc.

Doctors stated that couples who have regular intercourse without contraception for more than a year and fail to conceive naturally are termed infertile. This interval is decreased to around six months for people over 35. IVF provides a light of hope for such couples. Couples with limited financial resources, however, cannot pursue this alternative because the cost is in lakhs.

Gynecology groups and leading gynecologists encouraged the government to expand IVF therapy to government institutions.

Even prominent hospitals in major cities such as Mumbai and Pune still need to get a government-run IVF clinic. However, work continues at two Mumbai hospitals. Dr. Sangeeta Rawat, dean of King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, stated that an IVF clinic is being built and that civic construction is underway. The center would open in 3-4 months. This would only be an in vitro fertilization facility.

Dr. Tushar Palawe, a gynecologist at Cama Hospital in Mumbai, stated that the project had been initiated and would hopefully be functional in July or September.

Dr. Sanjaykumar Tambe, director of the gynecology department at Sassoon General Hospital, is looking forward and has proposed establishing an IVF unit at the hospital with the assistance of a private business, for which we would offer space, and they may begin treating patients. However, this is still in its early stages.
