The Food and Drug Control Department has issued a show-cause notice to the Gurugram Artemis Hospital for failing to provide the necessary records on the alleged purchase of bogus chemotherapy injections for a patient by an oncologist previously working with the hospital.

The letter, which the hospital received on May 23, made clear that hospital officials had neglected to turn in pertinent records during a raid. The notification listed three additional individuals who were purportedly given the same medication, Defitelio.

Lead investigator and drug controller Amandeep Chauhan declined to provide any information, citing the sensitivity of the situation. A senior official, nevertheless, said that the hospital had asked for more time to submit the information.

The hospital has been asked to disclose the batch number of the medication, Defitelio 80 mg/ml concentrate, which was given to patients, according to the notification, which The Tribune has access to. The substance is interestingly absent from the case files. According to the notice, a patient must receive the medical directors or medical superintendents consent before receiving an outside medication. However, neither the doctor nor the hospital personnel asked for this approval.

The hospital announced in a statement that they were preparing to file the paperwork. No fake drug has ever been purchased in any of the pharmacies run by Artemis. The final statement would be released once the investigation was finished.
