On Tuesday, Chief Scientist of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr. Jeremy Farrar, stated that India has played a critical role in the research of vaccines and the production of medications, diagnostics, and therapies during the three years of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Farrar made the remark while attending the third G20 Health Working Group conference in Hyderabad. He praised India for organizing the G20 presidency amid global difficulties and tensions.

He also stated that the two key things driving the G20 countries together are digital health efforts and science and technology, research and development, and manufacturing.

He noted that the progress made in Hyderabad in the last few days is to ensure that everyone has more equitable access to the countermeasures that are needed globally, such as drugs, diagnostics, and vaccines. He added that India, along with its G20 partners, can provide these countermeasures for the world.
