The quality check for the drugs has slowed down with a drastic increase in the number of drugs provided by the state government in their free medicine scheme. According to a report, a huge stock of medicines is stocked in the stores as they cannot be supplied to hospitals due to the lack of quality check reports for them. The health officials noted that the drug store in Jaipur is waiting for a quality check report on drugs that were supplied to it a month ago.

In recent months, the number of medicines in the free medicine system has expanded from 1,500 to over 1,800, ensuring that patients do not have to leave hospitals to obtain medications. The state government has made OPD and IPD services available to all patients in the state.

On Wednesday, in a meeting of health department officials, additional chief secretary (health), Dr. Shubhra Singh, issued instructions to ensure no complaints are received from hospitals about doctors asking patients to get medicines from outside or getting any test done outside the hospital.

She warned that strict action would be taken if any complaints were received about patients having to buy medicines at shops or getting tests done outside the hospital premises. She stated that adequate medicines and tests are available at government-run health institutions, which are free for all residents of the state.
