On Friday, the State Health Society conducted a state-level consultative forum on boosting urban health and family welfare services in collaboration with Population Service International (PSI), India.

During the discussion, the associations emphasized the need to provide access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services, including family planning information. They noted that this step was essential to ensuring that sexually active couples utilize at least one form of contraception.

Dr. Sajjad, State Program Officer (family planning), addressed the gathering and stated that efforts were being made to reduce the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) in Bihar. Currently, TFR in Bihar is reported at 3, which is higher than the national average of 2.1. 

The TFR is the average number of children a woman will have throughout her lifetime.
