On Thursday, Mr. S P Singh Baghel, the Union Minister of State for Health, reported a significant decrease in tuberculosis cases in India over the past few years. In his speech at the inauguration of the Innovative TB Health Technologies Workshop,’ he emphasized that innovation plays a crucial role in the mission to eliminate TB from the country.

The two-day TB workshop, hosted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), seeks to inspire researchers to develop health technologies for TB detection that can be used in the End TB project.

During his address, Mr. Baghel urged the innovators to produce quality products that can be deployed at a large scale. He also revealed that TB patients could receive treatment using their Ayushman Bharat cards.

Additionally, he praised the Central Governments "aggressive implementation" of the "Swachh Bharat Mission," stating it has resulted in significant improvements in water, sanitation, and hygiene indicators, thereby reducing TB cases.
