On Thursday, the Union health minister, Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya, stated that the National Exit Test (NeXT), proposed by the National Medical Commission (NMC), will not be conducted this year. The test, proposed by the NMC, was intended to replace the NEET PG and final year MBBS exams.
Speaking to students at AIIMS Raipur, Mr. Mandaviya assured them that the 2019 MBBS batch would not be required to take NeXT. He emphasized that students should not feel stressed about the situation. He specifically stated that NeXT will be implemented for the 2020 batch.
Initially, the NMC had announced that AIIMS, New Delhi, would administer NeXT in Step 1 and Step 2 twice a year. Additionally, they stated that students who took MBBS admissions in 2019 would be the first to participate in the test.
