Children living in lower income areas fare poorly post-surgery

Children from the lowest income neighborhoods undergoing surgery for congenital heart defects had 18% higher odds of dying, 7% longer lengths of stay and 7% higher treatment costs than children from the highest income neighborhoods, according to a study reported February 23, 2018 in the journal Pediatrics.
