New Delhi: The All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, is developing a smartphone application, Zeigen, designed to revolutionize weight management and address psychological aspects like stress and anxiety. The app is being created by experts from AIIMS in collaboration with Zeigen Health to provide a personalized approach to long-term behavioral change. The clinical trials are scheduled to commence in February 2024.
Dr. YPS Balhara and Dr. Rohit Verma, leading psychiatry professionals at AIIMS, emphasized that the app goes beyond the one size fits all approach by incorporating third-generation cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques and process-based therapy (PBT) framework.
The apps unique feature lies in its evaluation process, which uses questionnaires to assess the users psychological well-being. Dr. Balhara highlighted that, once approved after rigorous clinical trials, Zeigen will serve as a medically validated device, potentially transforming the landscape of obesity management and mental health issues.
Dr. Verma stressed the accessibility of the new app, as its modules will be integrated into various online platforms for easy access by healthcare providers worldwide. Dr. Balhara emphasized that Zeigen is a cost-effective, Made in India solution, catering not only to the clinical population but also to anyone facing anxiety and stress.
