The Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences (CAPFIMS) has merged with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The Memorandum of Association (MoA) signed in New Delhi solidifies CAPFIMS as a campus of AIIMS, signaling a significant transformation in healthcare provision for armed forces personnel.
Under the MoA, AIIMS will receive financial backing from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to cover the procurement of medical equipment, furniture, and operational costs. The Cabinet approved budgetary support of Rs 2207.50 crore in the 15th Finance Commission Cycle to facilitate this integration.
CAPFIMS, equipped with state-of-the-art medical infrastructure, including a 970-bed referral and research hospital, a 500-bed general hospital, and a 300-bed super-specialty hospital, will now be part of AIIMS. Additionally, it houses a medical college, nursing college, and paramedics school, offering various courses.
The new "AIIMS-CAPFIMS Campus" is dedicated to providing super-specialty and tertiary healthcare services tailored to the needs of CAPF beneficiaries. Services include medical treatment, nursing care, and paramedical training, with facilities like the Trauma Centre and Mental Health Counselling Centre.
This collaboration enhances healthcare infrastructure nationwide and creates opportunities for medical professionals to serve in CAPFs. With 4354 new positions to be created, the integration promises significant employment prospects.
