On Friday, a female doctor at Delhi's Hedgewar Hospital was allegedly assaulted verbally and physically by a patient's relatives. The incident occurred at the Karkardooma-based government hospital in the morning. The doctor, reportedly traumatized, could not be reached for comment as her phone was switched off.
A 70-year-old patient, brought in with severe chest pain, breathing issues, and paralysis, was attended by the doctor, who advised an ECG. However, the patient’s relatives insisted on consulting a heart specialist, leading to his referral to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital. Tragically, the patient passed away en route.
According to a resident doctor, upon the return of the body, the relatives allegedly assaulted the doctor, beating her with footwear. No action has been taken by the hospital management yet.
