The IMA has urged the government to consider interim measures to start NEET PG 2024 counselling, addressing delays caused by a pending Supreme Court case to support medical aspirants and healthcare staffing.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has appealed to the government to explore interim solutions to initiate the NEET PG 2024 counseling process, which is currently stalled due to a pending Supreme Court case. In a letter to Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, the IMA expressed concern over the prolonged delay, which has left thousands of postgraduate medical aspirants facing uncertainty about their academic and professional futures.
The delay is also impacting healthcare institutions, where timely induction of postgraduate students is essential to maintain medical staffing levels in hospitals and colleges. While acknowledging the importance of the judicial process, the IMA urged the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to intervene, suggesting that a normalized score declaration could enable smooth state quota counseling.
The association emphasized that timely resolution is crucial to avoid disruptions in the academic calendar and ensure adequate specialist doctor training and deployment in a healthcare system already under strain.
