Following the detection of two suspected cases of HMPV (Human Metapneumovirus) in Nagpur, Maharashtras Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif has assured the public that there is no cause for panic. However, he urged children and older people with comorbid conditions to remain vigilant. Speaking at a meeting on the HMPV virus, he confirmed that out of five patients, one has been discharged and others are recovering.
Mr. Mushrif emphasized the need for medical colleges to be prepared with necessary supplies, including medicines and oxygen, and advised contacting local authorities for additional resources. The Health Department has urged citizens to take precautions such as covering their mouth when coughing or sneezing and seeking medical advice for symptoms like fever, cough, or cold.
