A 31-year-old woman lost nine fingers and suffered a cardiac arrest after a fat removal surgery at a private clinic near Kazhakuttam. Police have registered a case against Dr.ShenalShashankan for suspected medical negligence, with further action pending a medical boards review.
In a suspected case of medical negligence, a 31-year-old woman lost nine fingers after undergoing fat removal surgery at a private cosmetic clinic in Thampuranmukku, near Kazhakuttam. Ms. Neethu, a software engineer from Sreevaraham, also suffered a cardiac arrest and has been on ventilator support since the February procedure.
Following a complaint from her family, Thumba police registered a case, naming Dr.ShenalShashankan, who performed the surgery, as the main accused. Kazhakuttam Assistant Commissioner J.K. Dinil stated that further action depends on a medical boards assessment. The District Medical Officer has been asked to form the board, which will review the documents and meet on Thursday to evaluate the case.
