The DCGI has launched an investigation into allegations of illegal clinical trials at VS Hospital, following accusations of 58 unauthorized trials. The probe will focus on trial documentation, ethical oversight, and compliance with regulatory standards.
On Monday, a team from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) visited VS Hospitalto investigate allegations of illegal clinical trials, marking their first inspection of the facility. The probe follows accusations of 58 unauthorized clinical trials at the hospital.
During the visit, the DCGI team shared findings with senior officials from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), who revealed that the DCGI had not conducted routine inspections at VS Hospital for the past four years.
The investigation, prompted by a Supreme Court petition from NGO SwasthyaAdhikarManch, will focus on consent forms, trial documentation, ethical oversight, and compliance with regulatory standards. The DCGI will also assess the involvement of an external ethics committee and adherence to Good Clinical Practices.
