A seven-year-old girl from Mandya district died days after leg surgery, prompting protests over alleged medical negligence. Authorities have assured an impartial probe into the incident.
On May 31, a seven-year-old girl, Ms. Saanvi from Nelluru village, died at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), days after undergoing surgery for a leg fracture. Her death follows rising public anger over alleged negligence in local healthcare, including a recent case in Maddur involving another childs death.
As per the record, the girl sustained a foot injury on May 26 and was admitted to MIMS on May 29 after worsening symptoms. Doctors diagnosed a fracture and operated, but she later developed septicemia and multi-organ failure. Her death sparked protests at the hospital, with her grieving parents and villagers demanding justice.
SP MallikarjunBaladandi and MIMS Director Dr.NarasimhaSwamy assured an impartial inquiry. The family had lost another newborn daughter at the same hospital just six months ago, deepening their tragedy.
