Using smart technology to improve care of cancer patients
A trial of 357 people receiving radiation therapy for head and neck cancer, use of mobile and sensor technology to remotely monitor patient symptoms reduced the severity of symptoms related to both the cancer and its treatment compared to patients who had standard weekly visits with their doctors. The symptoms were detected earlier and managed timely. The trial will be presented at the upcoming 2018 Annual Meeting of ASCO in Chicago.
