According to the results of the Aspirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly (ASPREE) trial published online September 16, 2018 in the New England Journal of Medicine, the daily use of low-dose aspirin in persons aged 70 years or older who did not have cardiovascular disease, did not prolong disability-free survival but led to a higher rate of major hemorrhage than placebo.
