According to a study presented October 23 2017 at the Liver Meeting 2017 American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases AASLD in Washington DC 48 of hepatitis C patients showed evidence of steatosis post treatment even after achieving a sustained virologic response with direct acting antivirals. Of these 6 had advanced fibrosis. The study authors recommend evaluation of such patients to detect non alcoholic fatty liver disease NAFLD and progression of fibrosis.
