MRI effective in detecting postpartum breast cancers

Breast MRI may play an important role in the diagnosis and management of pregnancy-associated breast cancers, says a study reported in the September 2017 issue of the American Journal of Roentgenology. Breast MRI showed a sensitivity of 98% in the detection of this rare but aggressive cancer and also changed surgical management for 28% of those patients.
