Study suggests fluorescent lymphography as a useful tool to aid complete lymphadenectomy

In a single-arm study published online Nov. 14, 2018 in in JAMA Surgery, peritumoral indocyanine green injection as a fluorescent lymphatic tracer given one day before radical gastrectomy successfully visualized all lymph nodes draining from the primary lesion on near-infrared imaging. More lymph nodes were retrieved with low noncompliance after robotic gastrectomy for gastric cancer with near-infrared imaging than without near-infrared imaging.
