The scientists have shown that when the virus is carried by the droplets released by someone through coughing or sneezing, it remains viable, or is capable to infect people, in aerosols for at least 3 hours.

Viable virus could be detected on plastic and stainless steel even after 3 days. However, it was noteworthy that on cardboard, it was not viable after 24 hours while on copper, it took 4 hours for the virus to become inactivated…(Reuters, March 18, 2020)
